Reading For Comprehension is intended for low-intermediate students. Fortyeight well-organized and authentic essays are selected from English writers. They cover a wide range of hot topics and they are written in different writing modes.

 

• Each unit begins with “Vocabulary In Context”, in which several words from the following passage are singled out for recognition. Students are required to guess their meaning from the context.

• Read On Their Own requires students to read critically. The purpose is to help them make an in-depth study of each essay. In Sentence Patterns, example sentences quoted from famous writers or “The Economist” are given to shed light on the usage of each sentence structure.
