A Five-Level Program
Introductory. Begins with visual discrimination and letter-sound associations, building to phonics and theme-based lessons with word lists.
Intermediate 1. Themes include using community services, caring for personal possessions, and accessing the healthcare system.
Intermediate 2. Teaches vocabulary and spelling through readings about comparison shopping, using the phone, interpreting bank forms, and other reallife themes.
Advanced 1. Themes of understanding society and culture, locating and using types of transportation, and understanding consumer protection measures.
Advanced 2. Themes such as obtaining housing and related services, understanding driving regulations, and using leisure time resources and facilities.
